Unit 3 Musculoskeletal System Essential Question:
What are the medical terms for our Muscular and Skeletal System's anatomy and physiology?
To do this you will need to be able to:
1. Recognize the skeletal and muscular anatomical structures and functions.
2. Define physicians whose specialties pertain to the skeleton/muscles and it's structures.
Why is it important for me to learn medical terminology? Below the state of South Carolina feels that you should know the following information. Highlight this standard on your list of Med Term standards in the front of your notebook.
SC Foundation Standard:
1.3 Analyze the basic structure and function of the human body.
1.4 Describe common diseases and disorders of each body system (prevention, pathology, diagnosis, and treatment).
2.1 Construct medical terms using prefixes, suffixes, roots, and combining forms.
2.3 Identify medical abbreviations to communicate information.
2.5 Pronounce medical terms.

Edible Skeletons Quiz
In the groups determined from last class you need to make an edible skeleton using the candy that you each signed up to bring. Below is a list of the bones that you must include and be able to identify when I point to it (given that still I cannot talk). I will ask a random persons in your group to identify a bone. If that person needs help with the answer it will be -2 points from your edible skeleton grade for each time assistance is need from another group member. If no one can identify the structure it will be -5 points. The class period is 90 minutes. You will have 60 to build and study your skeleton. At 2:00 I will start quizzing groups. At 2:20 you may eat your skeleton after we have taken a picture of it. If your group does not clean your table of all crumbs, does not wipe it down with a Clorox wipe, and does not push in all of your chairs you will lose -15 points from your edible skeleton quiz grade.
You may take two iPads to the back so that you can reference this list. A picture of the best edible skeleton as determined by myself will be posted on this page. Here are the bones that you must include if your build and be able to identify, use your skeletal packet to help you:

Anatomy Arcade
You need to play the following:
This gives you a total of 27. An average score will be created out of the 27 score. This will be assigned to you today as a class assignment grade therefore it is very important that you focus and try to score as high as possible with each attempt. On the score log you will see where the name of the game has been filled in for you. You must fill in what level you played and your score with each attempt. Consider this a fun way to study!
